Happy New Year.
I’ve been looking forward to the start of the New Year for quite some time now.
In my world the start of 2008 means the beginning for several important things.
A new training season has begun.
A new year of searching for work.
Most importantly, it brings to mind all the people, co-workers, mentors, and friends who are not around anymore for whatever reason. It seems year to year we all let a few good folks filter through the cracks.
I have never really made a resolution. It always seemed strange to me. However, last night I made a short list of "goals". Whether it be people to reach out to, old friends to hunt down, or restarting a few old hobbies which one falls out of favor with, I'm taking a few small steps to keep holding onto some things which are just too good to pass up. All of these must be reached by 2/1. I guess they are not really a typical set of resolutions, but non-the less there are things to be desired in 2008.
I’m just not willing to spend a year making them happen. One month is a much better time frame.
Best wishes.

what kind of hobbies? inquiring minds want to know.
Well training season is in full swing again.
I've been pretty unmotivated when it came to both cross and triathlon. So it's time to buckle down.
As for the "other" category, I've hit the climbing gym these past 2 weeks. As long as I don't inhibit any workouts and recovery from my usual training, I'm climbing once a week, with a good 30 minutes of aggressive core drills.
Very similar to what the Rutgers University Cycling Team did during the Olympic Gym workouts in 2006.
goals are okay. Resolutions are unhealthy. They usually lead to disappoint on non-fulfillment and subsequent depression.
